Bathroom Renovations

Dear Church Member,

Greetings and God Bless.  I hope this letter finds you well and that you are coping with the changes that COVID has forced upon us all.

Toward the end of last year, the Building Committee asked a couple of contractors to provide quotes to perform renovations to our restroom facilities in our church.  The tentative plan would be to convert the existing restrooms into one large women’s restroom, and convert the space currently occupied by the office for the preschool (Janet Clark’s office) to a second restroom for men.  The back 2/3 of the stage in the Fellowship Hall would be converted into an office for the preschool, with a portion of the space remaining for storage.  The front portion of the stage would remain to be utilized for events that require the elevated platform.

The quotes received were budgetary quotes, and they ranged from $68,000 to $80,000.  Neither quote included asbestos remediation, which is expected to be required due to the age of the floor tile in the rooms which typically contains asbestos.  I have contacted the two contractors to request a revised, detailed quote that we can use to determine the total cost more accurately.

Currently we have a little over $50,000 in the building fund that can be used for this type of effort.  We would likely need an additional $25,000 or so to complete the project.  Once we receive the revised quotes I will plan to present the information to the congregation during Sunday service.  There are multiple options for securing the remaining funds necessary for the project.  A giving campaign is likely the best option for this amount of money.  We are asking that each of you prayerfully consider what contributions you might be able to make toward a campaign.  If you are prepared to start giving at this time, feel free to go ahead and make your contributions with a designation that it is for the building fund.  We will officially begin the campaign once the quotes are received and the congregation has had an opportunity to consider the plan.

Thank you for supporting the growth and maintenance of our house of worship.  Please be in prayer for God’s guidance on this project.

Sincerely,

Curtis Teague
